Traveling by car is one of the most popular modes of transportation in Vietnam. Upon arrival visitors generally opt to rent a car or hire a taxi to proceed to their hotel or to other destinations.
Car rental in Vietnam is relatively inexpensive and considered to be convenient. For example, from NoiBai airport to the hotel in Hanoi, the price ranges from US$ 4 to US$ 12 depending on how many people in your group. However, travelers who are unused to foreign travel should be aware that, in general, renting a car in Vietnam means renting a driver with the car. Car rental companies assign drivers as guides to assist visitors in getting around the area. The driver also knows where to stop for meal and bathroom breaks on the way. This is standard procedure and should be considered a good method of getting around and getting information about the area at the same time. However, it is recommended that reservations are made in advance, especially if traveling to Vietnam during the busy seasons or during the festivals such as Tet Holidays. Also note that self-drive car rental is not available in Vietnam as the road in Vietnam is chaotic, bump and some of them are under construction or are blocked. In addition, in Vietnam, driver is always on the left while in some countries driver is on the right so you will probable be relieved that you got a driver.
Some common brands of cars used in Vietnam are Toyota Altis, Toyota Camry, Ford Laser, Mitsubishi Lancer, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mitsubishi Jolie, Isuzu Hilander Extreme, Mercedes Benz, Euro Space with model from 2000 to 2007. Most of the cars we use are new or no more than three year olds. Our drivers are well trained in driving, foreign languages and interpersonal skills.
