HANOI - BUT THAP PAGODA AND DAU PAGODA

Destination: Bac Ninh Province

But Thap and Dau Pagodas located in Thuan Thanh District, Bac Ninh province. But Thap pagoda was built in 17^th century during the late Le Dynasty, according to “Noi Cong Ngoai Quoc” architectural style. This pagoda includes 10 buildings spread over 100m, from the three-entrance gate to the bell-tower and back house. Two towers are made of white rock, making the pagoda seem higher, more majestic and peaceful.

Dau pagoda was built in the 3^rd century, the oldest pagoda in Vietnam. In the beginning, the pagoda was a Buddhist center well known throughout the country and abroad. At the end of the 4^th century, the Cha’n (Zen) Master Vinitaruci gave lectures and the first Vietnamese Buddhist doctrine was produced there. In the 14^th century Mac Dinh Chi, a mandarin under the Tran Dynasty, enlarged the pagoda and the pagoda underwent several renovations during the following centuries.

Departure at 8h00 AM. Our bus and guide will pick you up at your hotel/residence in Hanoi and take 2 hours road trip. Arrive in Bac Ninh province you will visit But Thap and Dau Pagodas. Free time to take photos of old pagodas. Then view the typical architecture of ancient pagodas. After lunch at a local restaurant, you have a time to learn the traditional Vietnamese arts of wood carving and sculpture. And do not miss to explore the beauty of the Quan Am (Goddess of Mercy) statue with one thousand eyes and one thousand arms, made in 1656 and symbolizing the reverence of the both religion and beauty. Back to Hanoi city at 4.00 PM. End trip.
